So the time has come. It is official. I am my own boss!
I have been self employed for over a decade now teaching guitar but initially, as many music teacher do I started in a music school, Apocco Music in Chorley to be exact. I steady grew my confidence and skills in both playing and teaching and slowly began to start teaching from home as well.
Over the years the scales have tipped to the point where I was getting recommended at home way more than the schools were offering work so I started to do less and less out and about and more in my studio.
Well today I am pleased to say that I am now officially no longer working for anyone else. What an epic thing to be able to say! This Saturday was my last at Rimmer’s in Southport which I had been working a number of years and I now solely run from my very own home guitar studio in Penwortham as well as guitar lessons on Skype.
It made much more financial sense to invest my time into building up my own business and removing the long drive to southport every weekend. So now I have my weekends, thanks to my busy weekday schedule which gives me ample time to invest back in the business with some ideas for future growth like the backing tracks and videos I now create for my students to take home and practice with etc. Watch this space!
