Our one to one guitar lessons will be set around what you want to learn. We will focus on your musical taste as well as the technique and theory to help you understand the music you are playing. Everyone has to start somewhere and with plenty of experience teaching beginners we will sail through the basics getting you playing the songs you love in a few weeks. You don’t even need a guitar as one can be provided initially; although it is recommended to get your own so you can practice at home and make the most of your lessons. Anyone can hit a wall with their playing whether you’ve been doing it for years and want to enhance your theory or if you are self taught and aren’t sure where to go next with your playing. We will assess your level and find any gaps in your knowledge and take it from there. I have taught children as young as 6 before however, this can sometimes be a bit young. Every child is different so as a parent, I would ask you to consider whether or not your child could maintain concentration for a full half hour. If there is any doubt about this then you may be better waiting until the child is older. Around 9 and upwards is a good age for children to start and parents are more than welcome to sit in on the class until the child feels comfortable. For those who want to gain qualifications in guitar I teach graded study using the RGT and Rockschool syllabi. We will work through the examination books until you are ready for the exam and then we will book you in. I have had a 100% pass rate with many passing with a distiction. I teach all modern and contemporary styles to an advanced level. Whether you want to simply strum along to your favourite songs, delve into the complexities of fusion and jazz or even tear up the fretboard with some of the heaviest music you can find, I’ve got you covered. Everything from Taylor Swift to Nirvana, The Eagles to Paramore and anything more obscure, I’ve probably taught it. For anyone wishing to learn classical, unfortunately this is an area in which I have little experience, therefore I am not in a position to give tuition in this.
