So you may have heard about the video game that has recently been released called Rocksmith. A step up from GuitarHero this game actually uses your guitar so you learn songs that you can actually play away from the game. Brilliant idea.
I have to yet to dabble on it but from the previews it looks pretty overwhelming in terms of understanding what notes to play compared to a simple tab sheet that we all know and love. Saying that I cannot bad mouth anything that helps kids get into guitar (as much as I love my gaming, and I do, combining it with music and the benefits of studying it would only enhance a young adults life) and it would be a great gift to any student to simply have a laugh and maybe a little show off in front of your mates this Christmas.
Available on the PC, Xbox 360® or PlayStation®3 systems it could be an ideal last minute gift for a budding guitarist. When they start to rival one to one tuition that is when I’ll worry!
